Encinitas
Encinitas is made up of 5 distinct areas. Old Encinitas is the beachside part of the city which is known for Moonlight Beach, Hwy 101, great dining, the historical La Paloma Theatre, and a walkable old town experience. There is Leucadia on the northwest corner which I outlined on another page. New Encinitas is the eastern and central part of the city where newer businesses and box stores reside as well as where most of the homes are larger and in tract developments. Olivenhain is a more-rural part of east Encinitas leading into the community of Rancho Santa Fe. Olivenhain is known for large, single-family homes on large lots and is also known for equestrian accommodations. The 5th area of Encinitas is the quiet surf village of Cardiff by the Sea. Known for its topography creating panoramic ocean views throughout the community, Cardiff is a coastal community with a deep surf culture and is home to the (in)famous Cardiff Kook.
Why live here? First of all, you could be my neighbor. Second, the beaches alone are a great reason to call Encinitas home, but you also have award winning schools, close proximity to the large employment centers of Carlsbad, Del Mar/Carmel Valley, Torrey Pines, and San Diego, a local coaster station to take you south to the Mexico border or north to LA, and a community that offers everything you could need from big box stores to local mom-and-pop shops.
